Geodes are back!

The Caves and Cliffs Update added Amethyst Geodes. I thought that Emerald Geodes could be an interesting feature to add in conjunction with amethyst. It is the idea behind emerald Geodes to encourage mining for emeralds rather than trading them. This also gives less experienced players a fairly intuitive way to farm emeralds. This mod now includes Quartz Geodes as well as Diamond Geodes and Echo Geodes!

Please use Quilt Standard Library instead Fabric API if you are using Quilt

Emerald Geodes

The Emerald Geode behaves and looks very similar to the Amethyst Geode, but they only spawn in Mountain biomes. These geodes are a source of emeralds that is easily renewable and can be automated, without having to rely on tedious villagers trading.

Quartz Geodes

The quartz geodes have a special quality. The growth mechanism is the same as that of amethyst or emerald, but they only generate in The Nether and use tuff rather than calcite. They also possess a unique oscillator feature. They will emit their own signal when powered by an external redstone. As the crystals grow, their frequency increases.

Under an overhang, a Quartz Geode can be seen in the Soul Sand Valley

Diamond Geodes

You may come across diamond geodes when you are mining. Diamonds can't grow in them like they do with other geodes because there is no budding block. There is only one type of cluster, and it will yield 1 diamond when destroyed, based on fortune. As diamond geodes are made from coal deposits, they also produce flooded geodes with deepslate ore instead of calcite.

The riches of a Diamond Geode that has been drained are excavated

Echo Geodes

Echo Geodes are generated in Deep Dark and they can produce Echo Shards. The Echo Block is generated with an outer blackstone layer, a mid-layer of sculk and an interior layer of new Echo Block! All echo blocks and budding echo block behave similarly to amethyst counterparts - but they all echo when you make a noise!

The Warden prevents entry to an Echo Geode

Echo Locator

Echo shards are used to create the Echo Locator block, which is capable of "echo-locating" geodes. You only need to place the block, click on it and it will try to find a geode nearby.

Lapis Lazuli Geodes

Lapis Lazuli Geodes are generated in deserts, and they have a layer of Pyrite on the middle (commonly called Fool's Gold). The Pyrite is used to make walls, stairs, slabs and slabs. It can also be traded with Piglins. When mined, Small Lapis Buds drop Pyrite. This is why it's better to collect them than the clusters.

Gypsum Roses

Gypsum Roses are based on Desert Roses in real life. They grow much bigger than any other crystal. Gypsum Shards can be used to compost and make sand. There will be more uses!

The desert has a few patches of Gypsum Roses.

Additional Data Packs

These addons can be downloaded from the Releases tab of this mod's page. You can download these addons from the Releases section of this mod.

Note that CurseForge has not authorized these releases.

Disable Emerald Ore Generation is exactly what it sounds like: It disables the production of quartz and emerald ore, so geodes will be the only source to get their resources.

Budding blocks Silktouchable allow Budding Amethyst (Amethyst), Budding Echo, Budding Emerald and Budding Quartz to fall when they are mined using silk touch!

If you want to activate these packs worldwide, please refer to Global Data- & Resourcepacks.

Configuration of Biome tags in 1.18.2

Since 1.18.2, biome tags can be used in datapacks for configuring where emerald or quartz geodes should appear. These tags are geodes:has_echo_geode, geodes:has_emerald_geode, geodes:has_quartz_geode, and geodes:has_diamond_geode (you can also use these tags in the /locatebiome command). The default tags can be found on GitHub. The tags are compatible with Terralith as well as Oh The Biomes You’ll Go. Leave a comment if you would like to see biomes from other mods in this mod. I may add them in the next version.

The Source Tracker is a tool that tracks issues and sources.
