Dragonflight (10.1): Known Issues

ButtonForge will work with a customized implementation in order to fix the problem.

Button Forge, an Action Bar Addon allows you to make completely new Action Bars. The buttons can be arranged into columns and rows (up to total 5000 buttons).

Button Forge won't change your existing UI, and it will look the same as it does now. You can add action bars easily and quickly to your existing UI by creating bars that are completely independent.

These new action buttons are almost identical to those that were previously available (i.e. Drag and drop the actions you would normally do, but there are some subtle differences, like the option to place non-usable items in the buttons.

The GUI allows you to create and configure the bars using the mouse. The GUI was designed to be simple and straightforward, but there are documentations for basic and advanced options.

The following are some examples of

  • You can create as many bars you want (the theoretical limit is 5000).
  • You can create as many buttons you want (up to 1500 for each bar, with a maximum total of 5000).
  • Full graphical Configuration
  • Keybindings
  • Drag and Drop actions onto buttons (spells items macros companions mounts equipment sets Button Forge commands
  • You can change the bar scale.
  • You can control how many columns and rows of buttons appear on the bar.
  • You can hide and show your bar by setting up visibility macros.

Localisations

  • The US

What is the Basics?

Enter into configuration mode

In the Configuration Mode, you can create and position new buttons and bars.

You can use any one of these methods:

  • Use the Button found in Interface->Addons.
  • In the Key Bindings section of the Other->Button Forge menu, create a key binding.
  • Click the BFToolbarToggle button to execute a slash command.
  • You can enter or exit the configuration mode quickly by dragging the Configuration Mode icon from the Button Forge Toolbar to a Button Forge Bar (recommended).

Configuration mode exit

The same methods that you use to deactivate the config mode also work for activating it

Bar Created

Click on the Create bar button and then select where you would like your new bar to appear.

Dismantle a bar

Then click the Destroy Bar Button and select the bar that you want to destroy.

You can add or remove columns and rows of buttons from a bar.

You can adjust the number of rows and columns by dragging the Column and Row icons.

How to change the bar's scale

You can adjust the button size by using the scale icon in the bar.

Place the bar

Drag the bar to where you want it by clicking on its background.

Only show the talent bar for one specific talent category

You can use the buttons on the left-hand side to select a talent.

Bars should be visible in vehicles

The bar is not visible by default when in a car. To change that, click the button on the right side.

What do I need to know (advanced)?

Bars can be configured to perform advanced functions.

Toggle the display of advanced options by clicking the Advanced Tools button in the Button Forge Toolbar.

Keybindings can be set for buttons

  • Enter Key Bind Mode by clicking the keyboard icon in the bar.
  • To set bindings, click the button.
  • Click the Key Binding button on the dialog box that appears (similar to Key Binding standard UI).
  • Select the desired keybinding by pressing it.
  • You can close this dialog by pressing ESC or clicking on the x. This will exit Key Bind Mode but still leave the bar open.

Notes:

Button Forge implements key bindings as overrides. This means any existing keys won't be removed. However, if the same ones are identical, the overrides will instead be activated (at least if the bar appears on the screen).

Button Forge will not inform you that the binding is already present on another Button Forge Button. It will also allow for multiple bars to share the same binding. This feature will enable some advanced ui configurations which are described below.

It will not be clear which Button will be activated if multiple Button forge bars share the same keybinding. However, if there is only one Button bar visible at the moment that's the button you will trigger.

You can make a bar visible only when you are in combat...or out of combat...or while on stealth, catform, etc.

You can use any macro conditional to determine if the Button Forge Bar is visible or hidden (even in combat).

Notes:

The visibility macros (or visibility state drivers) are also known by the name visibility conditional macros.

Also, the Spec and Vehicle options that are just above the eye icon use the macro for visibility to determine when the bar will be displayed. You can specify the visibility conditional, and if you also set one or more Spec/Vehicle Options to Hide then the rules for your bar's visibility macro will be added behind the scenes.

If Spec 1, and the Vehicle are hidden but no macros have been set, then you will see this state: [spec1] hide, [vehicleui]hide; show

The following states would be displayed if the vehicle is hidden and the macro combat example above was set: [spec1] hide, [vehicleui] conceal; [combat] conceal; show

No visibility macro will be used for this bar.

Change the bar's actions depending on whether you are in combat, stealthed or cat-like form.

It's not possible, but you can achieve the same result by increasing visibility macros.

This example will show you how.

Say you're a druid, and would like to be able to switch between catform and the bearform by placing a bar at the top of your screen.

Create a bar, position it wherever you like and set its scale. You can also choose how many buttons to put on the bar.

Add a label if you want to make it more visible in the interface. (Let's call it the Bear Bar)

Drag and drop the capabilities you wish to add.

Show/hide the bonusbar by setting [bonusbar3] to show.

It is easy to do if you notice the docking.

Click the double-clicked scale button twice to make the bar the same size as the previous bar. (Clicking it again will return to the default scale of 1)

Label the bar if you wish (this time, for cat form).

Drag and drop the skills you wish to use

Show/hide the bonusbar by setting [bonusbar1] to show.

Try it out after you exit configuration mode

You can also reuse the bindings if you want to set up keybindings. Since only one bar is visible at any given time, the buttons on each of the bars could have the same key binding. You can also use Send to Front or Send to Back to change which bar is displayed during the configuration mode. This will save you from having to remove bars.

Tabs make it easier to arrange bars that are located at the same location on the screen.

Label the bar, and align the upper left corner to match another bar. Labels will be arranged from left-to-right above each bar. By clicking the tab, you will move the bar up to the top.

You can send the bar to the front even if it doesn't have a tab by using the Send to Front or Senf to Back buttons.

Make a bonus bar. This will contain the skills you get when entering a vehicle or possessing another unit. It may also include the special powers that are given in specific battles.

You can do this by clicking the Create Bonus bar button. The standard Bonus Bar continues to work as usual, so adding a Button Forge Bonus bar is entirely optional.

Notes:

Button Forge is an exact copy of Bonus Bar 5 - the bar which receives certain special actions during gameplay (e.g. The actions that you can perform in your vehicle or when possessing another unit.

You can create as many BF Bonus Bars as you want

The BF Bonus bar is nearly identical to a standard BF bar, except that:

The configuration is shown in green

Standard BF bars are hidden by default when BonusBar 5 (or the Visibility macro) is activated, whereas BF BonusBars will be displayed.

The BF Bonus Bar has a few different default settings than the standard bars.

The Bonus Actions 1, 2, and 12 are already pre-populated.

The Bonus Bar will try to fill in any bonus actions that have been missing if the column or row number is updated. (This makes it easier to switch from horizontal to vertical).

The Button Forge Bonus bar has buttons that are locked by default. You will need to change this first.

The normal Bonus Bar will not be affected by changing the order of the actions in a bonus bar.

Click Right to Self-Cast

You can use the Self Casting button by clicking on it.

F.A.Q

If you have any questions that I did not answer above, please let me know and I'll try to answer them here.

When in the configuration mode, why do some bars and buttons appear even though they are not configured to be displayed?

It is so you can always configure the bar, even if there are rules set that prevent it being visible. You can also assign bar actions that would otherwise be impossible to do without temporarily unsetting their visibility macro, etc.

When I go into combat, why do some buttons and bars disappear in the configuration mode?

It happens when combat occurs unexpectedly. To avoid a cluttered UI that could hinder your ability to react to threats, all buttons and bars will follow their default display settings when you're in combat mode.

What is the strange behavior of my key combinations when I am in Configuration Mode?

It is possible that you could trigger any button if you use the same binding on multiple buttons. This will most likely be the wrong one! It is possible to confuse the keybindings in configuration mode because all of your buttons will be visible.

What is the strange behavior of my key combinations when I am not in configuration mode

The keybinding will apply even when empty buttons are not visible. It is only when the bar is set to be hidden that it will no longer apply.

How can I add more buttons to the bar?

While in combat, some configuration options will not work. You may also have reached the maximum number of buttons allowed on the bar, which is currently 1500.

How can I adjust the scales?

While in battle, several configuration options will not work. The bar may be too large if the scale is set to a higher value.

When I switch between my different forms of druid, the bars disappear briefly. !

The reason for this is that the rules of visibility are applied exactly. There may only be a short period when none of the conditions are met.

E.g. When you change between the cat form and bear, you will be in neither one of these forms for a short time.

Use the conditional [bonusbar#] instead of the conditional form to get around the issue. The bar will remain visible for the same amount of time as the default user interface. This could be applied to classes or conditionals in which the bonusbar is a better option.

Why does my bar not have a tab at the top?

The bar is either not labeled or it's the only one with the Top Left Corner in this position. You can make the bar a tab by assigning it a name and/or aligning its leftmost corner with another bar's leftmost corner. (Auto docking takes care of that when you drag the bar near another bar...except in the next case)

Why don't my bars automatically dock?

Unfortunately, autodocking isn't possible in this situation. Auto docking only occurs when two bars are close enough to the upper left corner.

Why do Bonus Actions appear on my Bonus Bar if I change the rows/columns?

It is done this way to make it easy for you to change the direction of the bar. It is important to note that multiple columns and rows can sometimes cause the ability to be placed in locations that may seem odd. This is because of the rules for how bonus actions are counted (as always, remember that an action will not appear on the bar again if it already exists, and that the button positions must always go from top to left).

When can Bonus Bar 5 be active even if Bonus Bar 5 itself isn't? I see the bonus action icons in blue.

It is possible that the bonuses you receive will still be available after the bar has been removed (e.g. This is true for Mind of the beast, I think. It is when you can trigger the actions anyway. If a hunter owns his pet animal, all of the actions will still be available even if the possession is over.

When the bonus bar is not present, it will be automatically hidden.

Even if you are in a vehicle which supports these commands, there is no option to raise or lower the aim on your Bonus Bar.

The aim cannot be changed in any increments, as the add-on is unable to duplicate the actions of the standard buttons (which are raise/lower with the button held down). This is the first time I've released BF that supports Bonus Bars, and I decided not to create any buttons for this. (If you request it though I will look into introducing it).

The standard buttons for raising and lowering will also work.

Add-on Status

We are not actively developing the add-on anymore. However, we will continue to support WoW Updates as well as add new features every now and then. Also, we are trying to stay up-to-date with the other WoW editions (Classic and Burning Crusade Classic).

Here is a list of general things that could be done better:

Low mana/energy/rage/runic power situations

Check that macro conditions are updated when they cause the macro display to update (this can be a lengthy process ...)).

Enhance companion (mount/critter usability indicators

Check how the keybindings are set up (I will likely adjust this, as it does not seem to be working well yet).

GUI: fine tune the GUI's general features

Consider providing different skins for the buttons (ButtonFacade at this time isn't an option).

When configuration fails (e.g. Add information messages for when configuration actions fail (e.g.

If possible, we would like to implement the following features:

The hidden bar appears when the mouse is hovered over (key bindings are still active even though it's hidden).
