ItemVersion displays information in your tooltip regarding when a particular item was added to World of Warcraft.

The database contains all the versions/expansions in which each item has been added.

The item's tooltip provides access to the information you need, when and where you want it.

Updates every week with the latest news. Every Tuesday, at least, a refreshed release occurs (just slightly) after reset.

API available for other addons to use

Use

Install the addon as normal, and then mouse over an item.

Use /itemversion to access the Options screen.

Contribution

Beginners are always welcome. You can ask me for help if you're new to Git, Lua or programming. Ask me anything.

There is no contribution too small. You can submit as many corrections for grammar and typographical errors as you like.

Do not be scared to ask for clarifications if you are unclear about something.

You should only make pull requests on the branches that you have created.

Limit each pull request only to one single idea.

Document your testing in the pull request.

Verify that your changes have passed the status check.

You can help ItemVersion by translating it into another language.

Translations can be alive. Do not hesitate to suggest improvements if you think they are needed.

Verify it first

It is important to note that in certain cases items that are used for the following expansion appear as if they were added too soon. Marrowroot was added in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. ItemVersion displays Battle for Azeroth as it's canonically accurate.

To display instead the expansion players expect, select "Include Community Updates" on the Options screen. Shadowlands would then be displayed in the Marrowroot case.

These community updates are a continuous effort. Please create an issue if you find an item in an expansion that is not the right one.

A product is still in the incorrect version. I have found a problem or a missing item.
