The addon was created by ManchegoMike.
The add-on is not a judge or jury in your Mountaineer Challenge. It also does not decide what you can and cannot bring. This addon does not prevent you from anything, but it is a simple way of alerting you to certain obvious issues.
It is only in the area of your second profession (fishing or cooking) that it will act as a judge and jury. The addon will alert you when your level is getting low and, if it drops too far, will end your game.
All of these actions can be done while the game runs.
You're all set if you install addons using an installer. You can do it manually.
You can download the ZIP archive.
Once the ZIP file is downloaded, locate it on your PC & extract it to your InterfaceAddOns directory.
Reload WoW by starting it or typing /rl if the game is already running.

All your shields and weapons are placed in your backpack when you first enter the game as a brand-new level 1.
Every time you log in, you are checked for your clothing to ensure you don't wear anything that you shouldn't.
How you obtained the gear is how addons determine if it's allowed. It's okay if you looted it. You can only use it if you obtained it through a quest, vendor or miscellaneous item like a fishing rod, skinning blade, mining pick or other weapon. If it is not allowed, then you can't use the item. It's not a foolproof method but it does seem to work. You can still override an addon’s decision if it is wrong.
You will receive a warning if you attempt to use an item that is not allowed.
You will receive a warning if you are wearing an item that is not allowed in combat.
Your skills will be checked every time you reach a new level to ensure you are on the right track. If you fall behind, you will be warned.
When you get to different points on your XP Bar, you should check your skill levels. You don't want to have a low level of skills that invalidates the run.
You'll be reminded to not logout when you reach a city or an inn.
You will be reminded to leave your pet if you're a hunter.
Currently, the Addon does not support any of the Bonus Challenges.
Use
Use the console commands /mtn and /mountaineer.
The following are all global settings for your account. If you disable sound on character A or enable an item, the setting will also be applied to character B as well as your other characters.
You can enter a link or id# wherever you see the id/name/link. Type /mtn allowing followed by a space and then click the item to paste the link.
Version /mtn
Displays the latest version of an add-on.
/mtn check
Verify your current skills and equipment.
/mtn lucky
This switch will allow you to loot mobs and keep everything you find.
/mtn hardtack
You will now be in Hardtack Mountaineer Mode, which has stricter looting restrictions. You will need to make most of your own gear.
/mtn trailblazer
The Trailblazer Achievement can be toggled (see document for more details).
You can complete this achievement in either Hardtack or Lucky mode.
/mtn lazy
Switch off the Lazy Bastard Achievement (consult the document for more details).
Only Lucky Mode is required to complete this achievement.
Weapons made by /mtn
Switch on or off if you want to make your own weapon.
This will be required only if the weapon was made after installing this addon.
Spells /mtn
Before making your own weapon, list the different abilities that you can use.
/mtn verbose
Switches the verbose setting on or off. You will receive all the evaluation messages if you turn on this mode. All "items are allowed" and "items are disallowed for gray" will be hidden when the switch is off.
Sound on/off /mtn
Add-on sound can be turned on and off.
Minimap /mtn on/off
Switches on/off the minimap.
/mtn check id/name/link
Use an item by checking it.
Allow /mtn id/name/link
You can equip and use an item.
Example: /mtn Allow 7005, /mtn Allow Skinning Knife
/mtn disable id/name/link
Unallowance of an item
Examples: /mtn disallow 7005, /mtn disallow Skinning Knife
You can also /mtn delete a link/id/name.
Ignores the allow or disallow designation of an item. The item will be forced to be evaluated again the next time it is looted or bought.
Example: /mtn forgot 7005, /mtn ignore Skinning Knife
I really do mean /mtn re-set everything
This resets the allow or disallow settings to "factory". Use with caution as this will remove all of your custom allowed & denied settings.
The only supported language is U.S. English. The parsing will not work if you are playing in another language.
The bags are checked only when they arrive, not after you have equipped them.
When you use the addon on a character that is above level 1, you will be assuming everything you have owned has been approved, unless it was previously disapproved for another character.
Want list
This addon would be significantly more complicated if I included something to show whether an item is OK to use when the mouse hovers over it.
