JVH Landscaping is meant to be a lightweight mod that exposes most of the in-game tree and bush/plant assets as craftable garden decor items as well as some small and larger rocks. Trying to keep the mod under 300mb for those who are mod-budget conscious. These structures can all be placed on saddle platforms, but will shake and shudder when in motion (globally disabling foliage interaction in your client settings will fix). If you want versions of some (but not all) of these items that do not do that, please see the JVH Platform Plants mod

As of the latest version, the mod includes the following:

28 Trees
17 Bushes
14 Ground Cover Items (Grasses/Flowers)
10 Small Rocks
9 Larger Rocks
22 Aquatic Items (Coral/Seaweed)
10 Freshwater Plants (cattails/lilies)
7 Mushrooms
13 Vines and Vine-ish things (with basic snapping)
2 Modded Tree platforms for use with mod Redwoods

NOTICE

Engrams are now in place for the Huge Trees, Larger Rocks, Tree Platforms and the Mushrooms. This should allow for admin management of engram visibility, level and points for each of them. Simply learn the engrams to be able to craft in the bench again. For now these are all the engrams I'm planning for until 1.0. If there's need for engrams for the rest of the items, I can add them post 1.0 if there's enough demand.

An example in the game.ini for the redwoods:

or to simply hide the Redwoods:

A MINDWIPE/ENGRAM RESET may be required to hide the icon in the bench--this happened to me on my dedicated server, the engram was hidden in the list, but still showed in the bench. After a mindwipe, it was hidden in both.

(hopefully self explanatory--Redwoods and Rocks settings deprecated with 0.96 as the engrams can be used to hide)

Known Issues:

  • Some reports of disappearing structures and crafted inventory items when flying away for a long period, returning on a reload of the map/game/save/client--SP or Non-Dedi and console only.

Recent Fixes and additions:

  • Added approximate damage types to each structure (rock for stone, wood for wood, etc)
  • Added spawn/placement emitters for feedback
  • Adjusted placement z offset to allow for structures to place further below the ground/floor

(0.97)

  • Updated Larger Rocks so they all appear correctly
  • Added material assets for Morning Glories to mod for visibility
  • Adjusted wall positioning for Morning Glories
  • Added placement height adjustment for all ground objects
  • Rocks are now considered floors and can have other objects placed upon them
  • Added stasis component to all structures (resolve killaoe issue)
  • Adjusted wall vines to place on outside of walls instead of inside by default
  • Fixed the engram learning for the new engrams
  • Fixed icon for hanging fern
  • Fixed name on Large Rock 2
  • Removed Hanging Rotala (buggy stem)
  • Removed all Lianas (they looked terrible)

  • Added (hide-able) engrams for the special function items, see above
  • Upped Health for every item to 1500
  • Some updates for the missing/not showing items, more to come

Future potential additions:

  • Landscape lighting (if we can pull it off with in-game assets)
  • Maybe a "size gun"? that cycles through variant sizes for each--set the gun to small/med/large and then shoot away at what you want changed to that setting and the target will change it to that size
  • JVH GARDEN DECOR - a sister mod that will include custom meshes/textures/objects/etc. that are not native to ASA, this mod will be much larger for those brave enough for bigger mods and a bit more unique selection of decor (Hedges/planters/paths/pre-arranged displays/etc) that we are hoping will still fit within the aesthetic of the main game.
  • An "Anchor" tree/bush/etc that is enabled by the server INI "UseAnchorItem=true" that the items will use for an optional check for a nearby anchor and apply the range and count limits to it. Also if picked up, the anchor will remove all modded structures in range.
