This is an ongoing development campaign. Currently, only 2 missions are available. Join the discord server by the link below to stay in-tune with further releases, note that this is also where I will be answering any questions instead of this project's comment section.
Intro:
Yep, you're stuck on a massive space rock. Right in the "Hellhole", in other words, the only habitable part of that planet.
Oh, and your city was nuked. You're probably wondering, so what? Well, you're the sole survivor. The last citizen of Irkalla.
Terran Dominion? Protoss? What are you even talking about? The people of this planet forgot everything that's outside. Space travel is impossible. The Dominion doesn't even want to uphold connections with this useless colony world anymore.
And, well, an abandoned, mostly lifeless, mostly resourceless, dark, brutal planet whose star is going supernova soon - that's a perfect recipe for tyranny, wars... rest is for you to discover.
You're standing in front of a choice - whether to extract revenge by commiting genocide, do it "peacefully", or completely submit to a higher power. Basically, stay human or don't. There's gonna be a huge play around Humanity. It is what keeps you alive - after getting incapacitated (you don't lose the game when your hero dies, unless specific circumstances are involved), you lose a bit of Humanity.
Also, there's a bunch of these: gods, magic, cults, both advanced and crude tech - there's a lot of lore and worldbuilding, presented with sweet terrain, atmosphere, and in potential future - original soundtracks.
There are boss fights, too. I'd hate to make a boring A-click stat-check boss fight, so you're up to face literal shitfests of flashy rockets, lasers, bullets and bombs. All of which are dodgeable. But could kill you in just one swoop. That is also true for regular encounters - fighting is about quick use of abilities, micro-control, bunch of variables and flash-speed decisions. You can kill relatively fast, but you are killed even quicker.
Don't forget, Regression isn't at all about casual gameplay.
You're meant to feel miserable.
(Or at least pretend, I'm trying my best here for that)
Install/Play:
- Locate the SC2 maps folder
- Create a folder named Regression
- Place all of the project's files inside that folder
- Start up the Launcher map
- After the load is complete, run Test Document (should be Ctrl+F9 by default)
- Profit
I'd advise to avoid using the Replay function as it tends to break the map, and instead use Save+Load, or use none of these - you don't really lose the game upon death, afterall.
